Summertime in the City ...

SB and I visited Sprout Kate and her boyfriend a couple weekends ago ... we stayed in Brooklyn, but spent time in Manhattan. The new Freedom Tower is up and topped ... hurray!

We walked on The High Line. It's a blaze of color and activity at this time of year. People, sculpture, flowers, adjacent architecture all make for stimulus overload ... and in the distance, The Statue of Liberty holds her torch over all.

We had a Saturday brunch at a small farm-to-table restaurant that's relatively new to the Chelsea neighborhood. We were impressed.

We spent Sunday morning at Coney Island soaking up the sun, strolling the Boardwalk, and checking out two different kinds of 'dogs'.

On the way out of town, we were sure to blow a raspberry at the home of 'The Evil Empire', those Damn Yankees! Other Boston Red Sox fans will definitely understand ...

By the end of the afternoon, we'd wended our way up the Saw Mill and Taconic Parkways to Duchess County ... and our friends' home. Sigh ... back in the country and this Country Mouse is missing the fun of the city, but is glad to be back to wide open spaces.

  2. I hope you did more than blow a raspberry. I was thinking more on the lines of a finger gesture! LOL!!!! The dark side does a a gorgeous stadium though:( I have been begging my husband for years for a few days in NYC. Maybe this fall. Great photos.

  3. As Scarlett O'Hara said in Gone With The Wind: "I'm Just Pea-Green With Envy".....and I truly am Susan! What a wonderful travel post. I love visiting NYC (but sincerely must live the country life). Such energy, so many eating venues (love the Foraging eatery you highlighted) and just infinitisimal amounts of things to do and see! Thank you so much for sharing; you've inspired me to do a travel post again, I love them so much (even if they are through my friends' travels and blogs!!!!!)

    Be well,
    Roz
